Honed Finishes

Most stone tiles or marble tiles have a highly polished surface. However Farzin Rock Stone offer a different effect in our honed stone tiles. Different to a normal marble tile, a honed stone tile has had the final stages of the polishing process removed, this results in a more textured, dull surface.

Honed stone tiles produce a very different effect to normal polished stone tiles, honed stone tiles will however require additional maintenance to standard marble tiles to avoid the stone staining. Honed stone tiles can also be more liable to scratching.

Polished finish

Polishing can be done only on crystallized stones. A polished finish doesn't affect the porosity of the stone. A polished finish is quite popular as it enhances the colour and markings of the material. Polished finishes are reflective. A stone with a polished finish is very smooth and reflective.

This type of finish is used in reception areas, where marble, granite and some harder limestones are laid. The most popular uses of polished stone are in; interior and exterior wall cladding, interior and exterior paving, fireplace facing and hearth, lavatory tops, residential & commercial counter tops, table tops, statuary, novelty items.

Crosscut finishes

A passageway driven between the entry and its parallel air course or air courses for ventilation purposes. Also, a tunnel driven from one seam to another through or across the intervening measures.

Saw cut finishes (Rough)

Saw cut finish has acquired its name owing to the saw cuts that are made on the surface of stone. When the stones are broken free of the cut layer they are shaped to uniform size.

Saw Cut finish offers complimentary accent to other types of stone work. It is generally used for walls, gate entries, patios, landscape design applications etc.

Flamed finish

The flamed finish is a rough texture used frequently on floor tiles and vertical applications. Color and particulate or vein patterns vary from block to block. Blocks are usually quarried in sizes 100 x 60 x 60 inches.

The major uses include; chemistry and fire resistant work surfaces, fireplace facings & inner hearths, etc; where heat is an issue.

Tumbled Stone

Tumbling is a process of smoothing and polishing a hard substance like stone. For tumbling of stones a rubber barrel is loaded with consignment of rocks, abrasive grit and a lubricant. Silicon carbide grit is commonly used and water is the universal lubricant. The barrel is then placed on slowly rotating rails and the stones are gradually smoothed and polished. These smoothed and polished stones are called tumbled stones.
